Packbridge organises delegation trip to Tokyo Pack 2016 in October

Japan is the world’s third largest economy and Sweden’s second largest export market in Asia, and it continues to be a very interesting market for Swedish companies, not least as part of a wider Asian strategy. The country offers great potential within most segments for companies offering a market-leading product or service.

Japanese packaging industry sales last year were worth 46 billion US dollars. Japan is a large and exciting market but with a great deal of interesting packaging innovation. A clear trend in the Japanese packaging industry is the drive to continue reducing the amount of materials used in packaging, while simultaneously increasing the number of items of packaging on the market.

Japan is good at packaging, but there is also a lot of interest in absorbing foreign expertise. European packaging technology is seen as very interesting and that means there are opportunities for a number of successful collaborations between Japanese and European companies.

An excellent way to become visible to the Japanese market is to participate in Tokyo Pack, which this year will be held from 4 to 7 October. Last time (2014) the fair had 665 exhibitors representing some 2,600 companies, and 179,000 visitors. Of the exhibitors, 139 (20% of the total) came from 15 countries outside Japan, including Sweden.

Just like last time, Business Sweden together with Packbridge are organising a Swedish pavilion at Tokyo Pack. The details of the programme are not yet complete, but we will definitely be offering matchmaking, seminars and meetings with the Japanese packaging industry.

If this is of interest to your company, contact Johan Mårtensson (johan@packbridge.se) as soon as possible for more information. We must have heard from you by May 1st at the latest.
