Packbridge dialogue with the Agency for Higher Vocational Education useful in the establishment of new packaging training
At the start of the year, BrobyGrafiska in Sunne was given the go-ahead by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education to provide training in prepress and printing technologies for packaging production, which is much needed training for the industry. Packbridge has been involved in drawing up the application by Sunne Municipality/BrobyGrafiska, and has helped to justify to the Agency for Higher Vocational Education why this training is important for the industry.
- We know that the industry has a greater need for people with a better understanding of the entire value chain. “An employee in packaging production must be aware of both graphic design, packaging design, production technology, the environment, security and logistics”, says Packbridge CEO Johan Mårtensson.
- We see a positive development for the industry and there is a general employment need. There is a requirement for replacement recruitment because of the large number of people retiring, but we also need new expertise in line with the rapid development of technology.
- It is therefore obvious to us that we should in every way support education initiatives. For example, we have previously been involved in helping the course for Packaging Technicians in Eslöv to get the go-ahead from the Agency for Higher Vocational Education.
Roland Vikberg from BrobyGrafiska say that this is a course with a clearer focus on technology and production than programmes at the school normally have. In other words, it is aimed at a new kind of student; those who are interested in technology, automated flows and controlling production with quality and profitability. The student learns to adapt the packaging design, from digital files to printable items of packaging and troubleshooting in the production chain to achieve the best printing results.
